Moms, marijuana and moderator madness: Five takeaways from North Andover’s 2018 local election

Another North Andover local election is in the books. All incumbents – Selectmen Richard Vaillancourt and Phil DeCologero and Town Moderator Mark DiSalvo – won by large margins, and the fact that there was no political upset is likely the biggest political upset in itself, given the highly contention Town Meeting it followed.

But it seems people are generally happy with the way things are going in town. Several new facilities have been built without a tax levy override, the town has a much-coveted AAA bond rating, and Town Meeting is run efficiently enough that it doesn’t even spill over to a second night when the town’s debating a million-square-foot pot farm.
