Start-up planned in ’emerging industry’

An East Coast man is setting up a new start-up cannabis business venture in Gisborne to provide opportunities for the region in the emerging medicinal cannabis market.

Marshall Walker is establishing Eastland Cannabis Corporation, which will operate to produce a range of medicinal cannabis products, and promote and support medical cannabis on the domestic and international markets.

Mr Walker, from Ruatoria and based in Gisborne, says he received encouraging responses from both Health Minister Dr David Clark and Associate Minister Julie Anne Genter following submissions he made to the Parliament Health Select Committee earlier in the year.

He then made the decision to enter the medicinal cannabis market.
