A local cannabis dispensary is offering Denver Public School employees eighths of cannabis for a penny while the teachers strike carries on into its second day.
The dispensary — Kind Love at 4380 E. Alameda Ave. in Glendale — started the nearly free offer Monday and plans to keep it in place through close of business Tuesday, said Chief Brand Officer Matt LaBrier.
“We try to do what we can when we can,” LaBrier said in an interview. “For us, it is the easiest way that we can support them.”
The idea sparked in LaBrier’s head while on his Monday morning commute. Driving past a group of teachers picketing inspired him to help in some way, and so far almost 30 people have taken advantage of the deal as of Monday night.
This is not the first time Kind Love has run the deal. Veterans on Veterans Day also were offered one-penny pot and LaBrier said
