Regarding “Asylum-seekers sent to Mexico wait in tumult” (Front page, Wednesday): Our so-called representatives in Congress are engulfed in an endless fight to control our borders and control guns. The president has declared an emergency to deal with the issue of border control because it is causing several problems, such as murders and human trafficking. While the nation is debating the control of the border, all of us are forgetting the other equally damaging issue is the arbitrary killing of innocent people including small children by those who have guns in their hands.

At a recent gathering of my friends who were from both parties, a question was asked if Democrats would give up their position on border control to allow the construction of a wall or something similar, if
